1.Overview
Mooring winch is a key equipment used for mooring operations in ships and marine engineering, mainly used for retracting, tensioning, and fixing cables (such as steel cables, fiber cables, etc.), compensating for deviations caused by vibration through constant tension adjustment, to ensure stable mooring of ships, platforms, or other floating structures at docks, anchorages, or offshore operations, playing a role in drift, support, and positioning. The mooring winches designed and manufactured by our company are widely used in various types of navigation and engineering ships, with working loads ranging from tens of kilonewtons to thousands of kilonewtons.

2.Main Structure and Composition

(1)Drum
-Used for winding cables, usually made of high-strength steel, the surface may have anti slip patterns or coatings to increase friction.
-Divided into single drum, double drum, and multi drum designs, some winches are equipped with storage drums for storing spare cables.

(2)Drive system
-Electric drive: powered by an electric motor, suitable for small and medium-sized ships or scenarios with stable power supply.
-Hydraulic drive: using hydraulic motors, with high power and wide speed range, commonly found in large ships and offshore platforms.
-Diesel drive: used in situations without power supply, such as certain construction ships or remote sea operations.

 

(3)Braking system
-Mechanical brake: In emergency situations, manually or automatically lock the drum.
-Hydraulic brake: Smooth braking is achieved through hydraulic pressure control.

3.Working principle

(1)Cable collection: The drive system drives the drum to rotate, the cable wraps and tightens, and the tension is maintained through the braking system.
(2)Cable release: Control the brake to slowly release the cable, and the tension control system prevents free fall.
(3)Tension maintenance: dynamically adjust the length and tension of the cable according to the external environment (wind, waves, currents).
